About the Pretty in Pink Foundation

Pretty in Pink Foundation (PIPF) is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization founded in 2004 by Dr. Lisa Tolnitch, a leading NC breast cancer surgeon. PIPF’s mission is to provide North Carolina uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients, called Champions, with financial assistance for quality, life-saving medical treatment regardless of their ability to pay. All monies raised come from partnering with physicians and healthcare facilities, grants, corporate sponsorships, businesses, third party events, fundraisers, and individual donations.

90% of all money raised is used to provide services to their local Champions.

The cost of treatment remains the most significant barrier to getting both preventative and survivor’s care for those individuals whose income is below the 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

In North Carolina nearly 20% of women have no health insurance coverage and more than 14% live at or below the federal poverty level. In addition nearly one-third of NC households are managed by single or divorced women with limited financial resources.
